RATED TOP MUSIC CLASS IN TORONTO by SavvyMom.Ca, Music in the Barns Early Childhood Music Program at the Artscape Wychwood Barns is designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of classical music in a fun and playful setting.
Children will learn, sing and play a wide variety of percussion instruments while encouraging interaction, exploration and discovery. Children enjoy music-making through singing, live instrument demonstrations (cello, violin, piano), favorite melodies and playful movement activities.
The Music in the Barns approach encourages collaboration between teacher, students and families, giving children the tools to express themselves artistically.

SESSION 2: CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS - Part 2
November 8 - December 13, 2014
Enjoyed by children across the globe, composer Camille Saint-Saëns' most well known composition, The Carnival of the Animals, explores the world of roosters, the regal swan, the elephant, tortoises, kangaroos, fish and more! Each class in this 6-week series features a different animal depicted along with the musical instruments explored in Saint-Saëns' imaginative work.
SESSION 3: MUSIC FROM AROUND THE WORLD
January 10 - February 21, 2015

Music is a meaningful part of every culture around the world. Each week this class presents the music, instruments, and various aspects of cultures, near and far, current and past, weaving listening, moving, singing and playing opportunities into each class. SESSION 4: CLASSICAL, JAZZ AND ROCK 'N' ROLL
March 7 - April 25, 2015
(no classes Mar 21 March Break, April 4 Passover)
Come with us on this exciting journey through musical genres, all the way from jazz, rock and classical styles. Groove to familiar tunes, have fun improvising and learn elements of jazz, pop, rock, classical music and more! As with all of our sessions, props, instruments, songs and games will play an integral role in each class.
SESSION 5: PETER AND THE WOLF
May 9 - June 20, 2015
(no classes May 16 Victoria Day)
Journey into this magical children's story, as beautifully orchestrated by Sergei Prokofiev, one of the 20th century's most influential composers. Meet our friends, Peter, the Duck, the Cat and the Wolf, and visit classic musical themes as they bring to life to our beloved characters. Explore how each specific instrument heralds a corresponding character in the story, and dance and move to the music.
